Before you call

A few notes make the call easier.

You do not need much. Five details about your dog help the groomer give you a useful answer.

  1. Size and breed

Say what breed or mix your dog is and about how much they weigh.

“She’s a terrier mix, around fifteen pounds.”

  2. The coat right now

Describe the length and texture, and when your dog was last groomed.

“It’s grown out all over and gets fluffy behind the ears.”

  3. Tangles, mats and touchy spots

If there are tangles or mats, say where they are. Mention anything your dog dislikes, such as having their feet or face handled.

“There’s a knot under the collar, and he doesn’t like his back feet touched.”

  4. The cut you like

Find a photo that shows it, and say what to keep and what to change.

“I like the face on this one, but I’d like the body shorter.”

  5. Your questions

Prices, hours, drop-off and pick-up, and the next opening: ask when you call.

“What should I bring, and when could we come in?”
